Just me and my shadow...

David and I took a "walk" outside today. He has enjoyed his walking toy lately and LOVES to be outside. The combination of both made for a really happy baby!

He looks more like a big boy than my baby...

The cutest part of the "walk" was David finding his shadow. He has always been a somewhat serious baby that sort of takes it all in and today I really saw his personality. He was pushing his toy when he looked down and stopped. He waved his hand and watched his shadow move. Then he tried to touch it... looking at me very puzzled when all he felt was ground. He must have continued "playing" with his shadow for at least 5 minutes!!!

Music with Daddy!

Trey loves to "teach" David about all the music he loves. About once a week, he'll turn up the volume and he and David will dance, play the guitar, and play the drums (David's favorite). The picture above is of them "playing drums" on the coffee table. David really seems to love music and I'm glad Trey shares his love of it with David at a young age!

He really gets into the music!

The Best Bib...

We are loving this bib! It really catches everything and I no longer spend 15 minutes finding all the food that didn't make it into David's mouth. I would suggest it to anyone that has a child "eating" table food!!!

Welcome to the World Daniel!

Daniel Jacob Hernandez was born yesterday at 12:43 pm. He weighed 9 lbs. 14 ozs. and was 21 inches long. Congratulations Jake, Anne, Kailey, and Avery!!!

David and I were lucky enough to spend most of the morning with mom and baby while Dad was at home with the big sisters. We got to change a big diaper, help with the hearing test, and dress Daniel for his hospital pictures. I think he might have a modeling career in the future, he is so handsome!

Trey also stopped by to meet the little guy and showed off his talent at swaddling. When David was born, Trey could swaddle better than the nurses and it always but David right to sleep because he was so cozy. Here is a shot of the baby burritto... it seems Trey has not lost his touch!

I just had to include this shot... this is Anne's sister Susan (left) and sister-in-law Diane (right). They are both also expecting boys in the next 2 months!!!

New York

We took a quick trip to NYC this past weekend. All we can say is rain, rain, rain! We stayed inside a lot because of all the rain and I apparently didn't take my camera very many places after the first outting where it rained so hard a homeless man had to give us a trash bag to put over David's stroller so he didn't get wet. Everything in the bottom of his stroller was wet, so I pretty much forgot about the camera the rest of the weekend. We had a great time eating at diners and David looked like a New Yorker baby with his rain cover, which we found after the first morning we all got wet. I really wish I would have snapped a quick picture of him in the bubble. Oh well, maybe next time!

"Gosh, I wish it would stop raining so I could go out!"

David asleep in the hotel bed. He was pretty tired after the weekend!

A SUMMER Day in the Life of David...

David wakes up at 6:30 am every morning... no matter how late he stays up or what time zone we are in, when the clock hits 6:30 he is ready to start the day!

After breakfast (typically a bottle, cereal and applesauce) he hits his favorite spot in the house, the dishwasher! He "helps" me unload all the clean dishes every morning.

We finish the dishes and water the flowers together. Then it is playtime!!!

And he manages to watch a little B.E. while he plays.

We HAVE to swing everyday (he sits at the door and says "mama" until we go out).

We don't stay outside long since it has been 105 degrees the past few days. But his other "must do" activity is blowing bubbles. After all the activity he goes down for his morning nap.

When he wakes up it is lunch time (typically homemade sweet potatoes, sweet peas, and yogurt).

Then we play some more if we don't go meet up with friends. David has started laughing/screaming lately. Even though it is loud, it is also cute to watch his personality change as he gets older.

He "helps" me some more around the house. Taking things in and out is among his favorites these days. After all the "helping" he usually goes down for a long afternoon nap, sometimes 2 1/2 hours :)!

After the nap he has a snack (typically cheese and crackers with juice) and he finally drinks from the sippy cup!

He loves to share with you!

Next we run errands if needed. The grocery store is one of his favorites. He loves "talking" to the other shoppers.

Silly boy!!!

David eats dinner before we do (typically brown rice and egg yoke, broccoli, and for dessert his favorite is avacado and banana). Just as he is finishing up...

Daddy comes home!!!

Tonight we went to daddy's softball game. David had fun playing with his friend Holland at the game.

David is usually in bed by 6:30ish, so he was happy to finally get his bath...

brush his teeth...

read a story, say our prayers...

and drink his bottle. He is out for the night! It is so much fun to spend the day with our "baby boy"!

One of those moments...

So, today I was reading Goodnight Moon to David before his usual morning nap. He loves to read and this is one of his favorite stories. I used to read it to my sister when we were little, it was also her favorite. Therefore I have it memorized and out of habit I always put my finger to my lips when "the quiet old lady" whispers hush. Well, today my sweet little boy was listening intently to the story and when I got to the "hush" part, he looked me straight in the eyes, reached his precious little finger up to my lips, and smiled... it literally melted my heart! It is one of those moments I'll never forget.

One more month...

and our baby will be a year old!!! Yesterday David turned 11 months. It is so hard to believe it has almost been a year since he was born. He is growing so much and is looking more like a little boy instead of my baby. I spent a while yesterday trying to get a great 11 month old picture in the back yard, but David was WAY too busy to stop and look at the camera. I finally had to play our little game where I run around the corner and hide and he "chases" me laughing out loud...

"Hmmm, these flowers look tasty!"

He wouldn't even look at me...

He did enjoy crawling around in our tall grass!

"I'm going to get you mama!"

This is David stuck in the bottom part of our entertainment center. He knows this is a "no, no", but he never listens. So when he got stuck AGAIN I took the opportunity to take a picture instead of rushing to get him out!

David has also gotten into the habit of shutting doors behind him and then he gets stuck. Yesterday, I heard him hitting the laundry room door saying "ma, ma, ma, ma". When I opened the door, he "ran" out!

Myrtle Beach Vacation

We had a great time on vacation this past week! The weather was great in Myrtle Beach and we spent most of the week in our bathing suits. We were fortunate to have a ton of familly down to celebrate July 4th together. We don't see family often since we live so far away and David loved all the attention. Mimi and Papa Dock were great hosts and we were sad to leave. Here are some pictures from the week...

David did not like the way the sand felt on his knees while he was crawling, so he fixed the problem by crawling like this. It was too cute to watch his bottom shake in the air while he crawled around!

David loved the sand! He played and played in it. He also ate a ton of it too! Sitting didn't bother him until a wave came by surprise and knocked him over!

Mimi found David this really cool tent to use on the beach. It was very helpful and David loved it! The first day we were out on the beach David took a 2 hour nap in the nice shade (translation, mom and dad got to relax and read!).

David had so much fun in his tent. He would crawl in and out, throw the ball around and look at everyone through the sides.

Monday evening we went to SoHo, which is one of our favorite places to eat. Trey and I LOVE sushi and they have the best sushi we've ever tasted. David was so tired and really put up a fight for Trey and I, but when his Papa Dock took him he went right to sleep. We put some blankets down on the booth seat and he slept until we had to pick up Aunt Courtney from the airport.

David and his Papa Dock had a lot of laughs together this week!

When we were not in the ocean or eating, we were playing in the pool. David's Mimi found this really neat suit for him to use in the water. He didn't love it this year, but it was still a little big so I'm sure next year he will like it more.

We were so happy that Dee Dee and Daddy T had a chance to visit on Thursday afternoon. They didn't stay long, but we did get play in the pool for a while. We loved seeing them!

If Dylan had a snack, David had to have a snack! It was really fun to watch him copy Dylan and follow him around.

David made himself at home and loved playing on this step in the back hallway of Mimi and Papa Dock's house. Thanks again for everything, we had a great time and miss you guys lots!
