18 Month Well Check-Up

We went for David's well check up with Dr. Deitchman today. You don't have to go at 18 months, but I kept the apppointment due to the really dry skin/rash David has been experiencing over the last few weeks. Turns out he has eczema. So, we got some powerful cream to see if it would help... poor baby, he scratches all the time! I know it is common for kids to get eczema, so I welcome any suggestions from moms who might have some tricks up their sleave to make it easier. Here are some stats about David at 18 months:

Weight: 26lbs. (50%)
Height: 33 in. (75%)
Has started talking in 3 word sentences.
LOVES, loves, loves The Wiggles.
Really enjoys outside and digging in dirt.
Still loves to say his prayers (and more than once if he isn't wild about what he is eating or reading).

He is at a really fun age. He has started the tantrums on some days and can be very defiante as well. I guess it comes with the life of an almost 2 year old!

The "my" is only had in the crib and car. He says "bye, bye my" every morning when we get him up. I guess we'll work on breaking it completely later!

Happy Birthday Daddy T!

Today is Daddy T's birthday! We love you so much and wish we could be there to celebrate. You are an amazing man and we are thankful you are in our lives. Eat some yummy cake for us... we'll call you later to sing Happy Birthday. David can't wait, we've been singing it all day! We love you so much!

Much love,
Trey, Dani, and David

A quote...

One of the sweet kids in my MDO class exclaimed the following sentence when I stopped by school today:

"Will he EVER get better?!?"

Here is a recap of the last week for David... he has some funny rash the doctors are still calling dry skin, then he began running a fever that lasted 3 days, then he was "well" for a day only to have the stomach bug yesterday and last night! So, to the little girl in my class... I wish I knew! Pray for David to start feeling better soon!

5:30 a.m.

At 5:30 this morning I hear this through the monitor:

"Wiggles" "music" "momma" "my" "go" "down" "milk" "cereal"

I think David was planning his day! Actually, he was probably a little out of it considering his fever was 102. So, we did some of the things on his list. We did watch the wiggles and he did sit with me, but he didn't drink milk, eat cereal, or go to school! We might make another trip to the doctor today...

What a difference a year makes...

Can you believe how different the "baby boy" is from February 2006? Last year he still needed his boppy to sit up and this year he was chasing girls!!!

David's Valentines Day Play "date"...

David and I went over to his friend Faith's house today so they could play together for a bit. He had so much fun! We might have to make it a regular Wednesday playdate. Of course we tried to get the two kiddos to take a picture, but they wouldn't sit still long enough!

However, we did get a really funny sequence of shots from them trying to share a hug and kiss. Well, maybe I should say David was trying to get a hug or kiss. Faith didn't really want to kiss him today.

Here is David getting ready to steal a hug...

...and when he discovered she was going to say no and we laughed, he just tried harder and harder.

Eventually she ran and he began to chase her. He was laughing so hard he could hardly breathe!

Finally he caught her and it all ended in a tackle! Even though Faith looks scared in this picture she was really laughing. They both had a great time together. We are so thankful for sweet friends!

Happy Valentines Day!

This is the best I could do this morning as far as pictures go... the baby boy is NOT in a great mood today. We hope everyone has a wonderful Vday! Lots of love from TX!!!

Happy 18 Months, David!!!

I can't believe my baby is 1 1/2! That sounds so old! And boy do "toddler moments" come with age :). Actually David does wear his halo more than horns, but the horns do sneak out more than they used to! I will make another post of all the mom things I need to remember about the little guy at this age. But until then, here are some pictures of David (a.k.a. the kid who NEVER sits still or stops talking!).

Climbing, climbing, climbing!

Using a spoon takes too long for David. He still eats so much food (and the cheeks show it)!

When he is almost done he picks up the spoon. Honestly, Trey and I wonder when he will care that he is disgustingly dirty after a meal!?!

Playing doctor... he will hold this up to your chest and say "thump, thump". So fun!

Just for fun...

I haven't taken any recent pictures of David lately and we've been quite busy. But, I found this the other day and thought I'd post about our names. Someone has a website that locates how many people have your same name in the world and these are our results:

David Kelly: 3, 624
*Disclaimer* We knew David was not a trendy name and there would be a lot of David's in the world, but it holds a lot of Biblical meaning to Trey and I. We really love that his name reminds us to pray specifically that he be "a man after God's own heart".

Danielle Kelly: 228
*I was a little surprised by this... I don't meet many Danielle's (or Dani's if that what you call me :) ).

Trey Kelly: 9
* Only 9... I knew he was special :).

The website is www.howmanyofme.com if you'd like to check it out. It was kinda fun!

My Papa

This past week, David and I went home to S.C. to say goodbye to my Papa. He finally gave up his 13 year battle with Alzheimer's and went home to be with my Granny. He was a wonderful man and the process of saying goodbye showed just how many people loved him. Sadly, I got the stomach bug and had to miss the actual funeral, but being with my family and sharing stories about his life helped me let go. I can just picture him now walking hand in hand with his wife on streets of gold...
