Fun with Bailey!

My SWEET friend Amanda came to the rescue again today... she watched David for me while I had "Meet the Teacher" for our MDO program. David loves going to play with Bailey and boy do they have lots of fun together!

Here are the little guys playing with playdoh!

And David really enjoys the car garage. I think this will be our next purchase for David. He turns away most toys that are not sports related, but if there is not a bat or ball around he goes straight for the cars. He has one in his class at school and it is the first thing he plays with!

Amanda even had the boys painting! She is brave :)!

And here is a sweet hug (well, maybe a half tackle by both sides, ha ha)! Not only did she watch after David almost all day, but I received these pictures by email tonight as a bonus. I got to see what my monkey did all day :)! Thanks so much Amanda!

Baby Update

26 weeks, 3 days
Baby's heartbeat: 150's
Weight gain: 4 lbs. (9 total)

Everything is going well! The great news is I start going every 2 weeks now, yahoo! This little guy is so active, I'm afraid we are REALLY going to have our hands full. David was never this "jumpy" while I carried him. Baby #2 wakes me up at night and moves all during the day. I really love it and will miss that part about being pregnant when it is over. I just hope he sleeps as well as his big brother did :). I will have my glucose test when I return for the next visit, so hopefully all will be well in that aspect. A significant difference with this pregnancy that I want to remember is that I don't have heartburn as badly as I did with David. "They" say it is an indicator of how much hair the baby will have, so I'm interested to see if this baby is born with as much hair as David. David had a TON of black hair that I worked very hard for, if the old wives tale is true. I guess we'll see in time. I can't wait to meet him!

*We are STILL working on the full name... we have found it difficult to decided with the repeated gender :)!

Question:

How do you know you've been pregnant, and therefore have not cooked, for a long time?

Answer:
When your 2 year old yells "PIZZA MAN!" every time the door bell rings. He really does keep us laughing :)!

"Home Plate"

I have been puzzled by the fact that, for months now, David has wanted this book on the floor in our living room. I couldn't quite figure it out... until yesterday. We were heading outside to play baseball and wait for daddy to come home. David had his hands full with his bat and ball. He looked at me and said "Mommy, you get home plate." and he pointed to the book. Hillarious!!!

Look at David's swing! By the way, we are scheduled for a hair cut today.. boy does this little baseball star need it!

Night #3

Last night started off pretty funny. Daddy was doing the "putting to bed" part of the night and I was in our bedroom. David had already tried to talk his way back onto the couch to watch football with his daddy, but Trey was trying to be stern and put him back in bed. Well, a few minutes later David starts sneaking out of his room on all fours. Then he peaks around the corner of the hallway. Of course Trey saw him, but decided to see what he would do. David proceeds to ARMY CRAWL all the way across the den floor to Trey's feet and then just peaked up at him with a look that completely said "can you see me?" Of course Trey is covering his mouth attempting to hide the laughter! David knows he humored his daddy and starts laughing too... what a riot this kid can be!
I went back with him to his room and he feel asleep... he just woke up at 8:30 am. Yeah David!

Night #2

Last night took a little longer than nap time did, but still the whole ordeal was only about 20-30 minutes. A few things added to the longer fight of staying in bed. David is back on breathing treatments for a few weeks and the medicine makes him HYPER! His nap (the first in the big boy bed) lasted 2 1/2 hours so I didn't get to do his breathing treament until much later in the evening. Poor little guy was still wired when we tried to lay him down. Plus, his daddy was home and David loves to sit on the couch at night with his daddy to watch t.v. The best news is he stayed in bed until 8:00 this morning! YEAH!

So far, so good...

Well, David went down for his nap on the trundle in about 10 minutes!!! I knew he would be tired since he spent all morning at church playing with his friends and running on the stage after service(s). I followed our normal Sunday after church routine and after telling him goodnight, I shut the door. I knew he would get up, but I was o.k. with that since he can't open the door yet. He said "mommy" a few times, but not the way he did early this morning. He wasn't scared, just confused. Anyway, I let him explore the room a few minutes (we don't have much in there right now) and I want him to feel comfortable in his new sleeping space. After about 5 minutes, I walked in the room, gave one last hug, and told him to lay down. I sat next to him on the floor, but did not look at him. He actually said to me "I go to sleep..." and about 3 minutes later he was snoring! I am so thankful that it was not traumatic. We have praying with him and about this transition, because a pregnant mama needs her SLEEP!!! And, if you're wondering why in the world I am typing all of the stages of what is going on with switching beds, it is because I will never remember for baby #2 and I really want to! Praise the Lord, I am off to take a nap as well...

The morning after

Here is the big boy sitting on his big bed! I took the picture this morning as he was waking up and you can see the first thing he has in his hand... every morning! David did pretty well last night. He fell off the bottom bunk after only 2 hours, but slept great on the trundle. Our plan was to let him decide which one he liked best. Then, he made it until 5:00 am (NOT my usual waking time) when he came into our room saying "Mommy?", "Where my mommy?". So, I got up and took him back to his room. He was so tired by the time I laid him down and rubbed his back a few minutes, he was asleep again. I went back to my room. 30 minutes later he was crying outside our door. So, back to his room we went. He went back to sleep but kept waking up to see if he was alone or not. Then came my mistake... I thought to myself "I'll just lay on the bottom bunk for a few minutes", well the next thing I knew it was 8:00 am and Trey was standing over us saying he was going to work. David and I slept another 30 minutes before waking up for good. I was trying really hard not to lay in bed with him (so technically the bottom bunk was not in the same bed, no snuggles were happening) and I think he did pretty well considering we made him go cold turkey. The interesting part will be nap time today! We told him his crib was broken (which it is since we didn't put it back together yet) so he really doesn't have a choice. I just hope it isn't a battle. You never can tell with David. He likes to feel like a big boy, but at the same time if it is not his idea, he has a tendency to fight us. I guess we'll see!

Wish us luck!

David is currently asleep in his big boy bed! That's right... no rail, no barricade, only a trundle to catch him if he falls off! We switched the rooms today and he drifted off to sleep with ease (it COULD have something to do with the Benadryl I gave him earlier, he he). I will post pictures of his cool bunk beds later, right now I am off to HOPEFULLY get a full nights sleep as well! If he makes it through the night, I just might give him ice cream for breakfast I'll be so excited!

The Wedding...

Trey's sister, Courtney, and her new hubby, Ryan, were married in Myrtle Beach on August 4th. The day was perfect, the bride was beautiful, and Trey had a wonderful time preforming his first wedding ceremony for such a special couple!

David was listed as the ring bearer in the program, but he didn't quite make the show! He was good at the rehersal (which he is dressed for here), but during the wedding he fell asleep in Dee Dee's arms!

The day of the wedding was hectic so David spent the day with his Daddy T, Dee Dee, Uncle Rob, Aunt Ru Ru, Bayler and Bridges. We even got to visit with his cousin Claudia for about 10 minutes. None of the time was long enough, but it was still great to see everyone! Here are the two, two year olds eating some french fries and hot dogs for lunch!

After lunch, Dee Dee surprised David with a cookie cake! We even called Aunt B on the phone so she could sing too! This is Bobby (my brother/sister-in-law's nephew), Bayler, David, Dee Dee, Daddy T, and Bridges! Uncle Rob and Aunt Ru Ru were in charge of photos and video. So much fun!

I didn't take many pictures of the actual event since I was a bridesmaid, Trey was performing the wedding, and David was with my parents. However, this is about all we saw of David at the reception. This is his new friend Carly. They danced, ran, and he was even kissing girls before the night was done. He had a blast!

And here is the happy couple! We are so excited for Courtney and Ryan as they start their lives together. We love you both!

The Vacation...

After the wedding was over, we enjoyed a few days of relaxing on the beach before we returned home to TX. David's favorite part of the "o-cen" was running from the waves as they came in. He wasn't afraid, he just liked playing the game!

He also dug a few holes, but he didn't sit for long. And it was SO HOT/HUMID while we were there. When he was done, he just took off for the steps and said "bye-bye, go to Papa's house!" Even if no one else was following him.

Usually, Mimi follwed closely behind him. Here they are going on a walk/run down the beach together.

David also enjoyed spending time with Papa Dock. He is stealing some of Papa's drink here... he is so loved (or spoiled)!

David's birthday is August 11th and Aunt "Cour-tee's" birthday is August 10th, so before the newlyweds headed back to Greenville we had a small birthday celebration with cake.

David LOVED it and his whole face lit up! After they blew out the candles he yelled "do it again!", so guess what... we re-lit the candles and sang again!

Here is my attempt at a picture of David and myself, which he would have nothing to do with. You'll notice there are not many pictures of Trey, he got really sick and only got to go to the beach for a half day. He was so overheated and dizzy, he spent the rest of his vacation indoors or in bed. Poor guy!

The other great part about our short vacation was that some friends joined us, all the way from TX! Jake, Anne, Ben, and Holly flew in late Sunday to enjoy a few days of sitting on the beach, fishing in the Inlet, and eating. And thats exactly what we did... we made sure they got a great taste of SC including a Low Country Boil, fresh seafood (including She Crab soup, one of my favorites), SoHo sushi, and even some Groucho's STP's! We had a wonderful time and hope they can join us again next summer!

The Birthday...

Since we got home from vacation at 1:30 am the morning of David's birthday, we had a wonderful, lazy day at home. I had pre-planned the idea of making baseball cupcakes for us to sing Happy Birthday to the little guy, so after a long nap David and I worked together to bake them!

This was David's first attempt at helping me cook (he is usually playing baseball with his daddy during dinner prep) and we had a blast! Here he is telling me "I'm TWO!" while we wait for the first batch of cupcakes to bake.

I also made David's favorite dinner, spaghetti, and he ate 2 BOWLS!!!

Then we sang Happy Birthday again and he got that great look of pure joy on his face. I wish it was his birthday everyday because he just LOVES it!

Overnight...

Last night I was talking to my mom on the phone and she asked me if it seemed like David "suddenly" grew up overnight when he turned two... the answer is absolutely! I have been amazed the last 2 days at the things he has said/done! For example, we were sitting on the couch last night and he was playing with my hair. He has started enjoying this little snuggle time activity lately. Anyway, he held my hair out to the sides and studied me carefully. Then he said "Mommy, you an octopus!" He is speaking in 5 to 6 word sentences and coming up with his own ideas. I can tell it will be a hard age with discipline, but also a fun age because he is growing so much!

Here are some other "stats" on David at the age of two:

*He is so very independent! He likes to do all things by himself and his way!
*He still only likes to play sports. Rarely does he ask to do other things and he seems to just tollerate my attempts at coloring, playdoh, puzzles, and legos!
*He associates very well. For example, if I say a family member, he can say the other members of the family. If I say a friend, he can name their parents and other friends they've played with together.
*He will not let us go without saying the blessing at meals, which is really sweet. I'm trying to teach him he can talk to God anytime, not just at bedtime and meals :)!
*He still eats most anything and has only had one small "not eating stage". His favorite foods are spaghetti, mac 'n cheese, green beans, grapes, apples, pears, chicken, raisin bran cereal and ice cream.
*He is very active and runs from A to B. Even if it is only 2 steps!
*He has gone tee tee in the potty and seems interested but can't quite figure out how to make all the parts work at the right time.
*He still likes to read, especially at bedtime. He enjoys picking out the books he wants to read and the choices usually include Goodnight Moon, Ten Apples Up on Top, ABC Baseball, Touch and Feel Baseball, and Noah's Ark.
*His favorite sayings are:
"Okay" instead of yes
"I'm the great Bambino!"
"Keep your eye on the ball"
"You play ball like a GIRL!"
"I wuv you________"
"Play baseball outside?"
"Uh oh, what a mess"
"I'm TWO!"

*And lastly, I want to remember that David is a constant source of joy for us. Although he is very opinionated and wants to do what he wants, he is also very sweet. He loves to get our attention by dancing, hugs, hitting the baseball then saying "Good hit? Homerun!" and he has the most wonderful, contagious laugh. We are thankful for each day we get to spend with him!

Officially TWO!!!

Happy birthday baby boy! We are so in love with this little guy and had a wonderful day... we are all tired from many flight delays last night, so a longer post will follow. I just didn't want the day to pass without a picture of David enjoying his birthday!

I can't begin describe how his face lights up when you light candles and sing happy birthday to him. What a joy!!!
