Fun with Bath Markers!

David has not enjoyed bath lately... he goes through this phase every now and then. I decided I would try to make it more fun and purchased these bath markers. He really likes telling me which color he wants to use and even though smiling for the camera is not something he is interested in, he certainly likes bath art!

He concentrates so hard while drawing his pictures! He even "writes" his name. He will say "D" "a"... and then he stops talking out loud, but continues writing.

Of course his only request for my help is to draw a baseball.

He even cleans up the mess when bath is over! What a big boy!

Pregnant brain to the MAX!

I think all moms out there know that with each child/pregnancy you lose a part of your brain and never get it back. Well, this is my 4th pregnancy to date and even though I only have 1 and 1/2 children at this point, I can safely say "I"VE LOST IT"! Notice anything out of place in the picture above? That's right... as I was walking out of Wal-Mart this morning I noticed one of our phones sitting on the bumper of my car! You see, David and I usually go outside and play a game of baseball in the late afternoon while we wait for Trey to call and tell us he is on his way home from work. I guess I left it sitting there yesterday and surprisingly, it survived about an hour of errands all over town this morning. And just to top off this wonderful story, I need to document that at 3:30 am Sunday morning, our nice police officer neighbor was knocking on our door and ringing the doorbell... he wanted to let us know I had left the garage door open and he didn't feel safe going to bed knowing we had a baby inside that needed to be protected. I hope we all survive my feeble mind!!!

Baby Update:

Baby heartbeat: 140's
Total weight gain to date: 5 lbs.

David actually went with me to the appointment today. He was very interested in what the nurses were doing (blood pressure, listening to the heartbeat, etc.) I was a little nervous about taking him since he doesn't like to sit still for long periods of time right now. But, he did great! He sat in the stroller, ate his sucker, and even entertained Dr. Mendez by talking about baseball when he came in the room. Today was just a routine check-up and he said everything looks/sounds great. Hopefully I will get a chance to post some much need pictures of the big brother sometime today. For now, I'm going to take a nap :)!

Half Way There!

We are almost 21 weeks along now and doing well. We had another ultrasound today so I thought I'd post the new pictures of baby and document where we are now!

Baby says hi! I love that he is waving to us in this picture. (However the front view is always a little freaky in sonogram pictures!)

And he is still all boy!!!

The baby is growing well, and Trey noticed in the sonogram today that all his length and leg measurements were ahead of my current 20 weeks/5 days (surprise, surprise). He weighs 15 ounces and is VERY active! David never kept me up at night with movement, however this little guy is different. Even in the sonogram today, he was punching and kicking at the screen. I LOVE it! My fluid levels are great, which was a problem with David and the doctor said everything looks healthy! Praise the Lord!!!

And although I don't feel very photogenic these days, I did want to post a picture of what half way looks like. Trey quickly shot this photo last night and David was not wanting to pose! I am feeling well, just still on the tired side. I think it has something to do with chasing an almost 2 year old around all day. I return to my OB on July 30th so I'll know then how much weight I've gained and the current heart rate. I do have some of my appetite back, and pretty much feel the same way I did with David in that regard. One huge difference is that this little one is pressing on a nerve (maybe the Sciatic?) and is causing a lot of back pain, accompanied with shooting pain/numbness down my legs. Fun! Just kidding, it is worth it and as long as baby continues to grow and develop he can cause whatever pain he wants! We are beginning to make the boy's rooms their own, starting with closets. We will move David out of his crib (shhh, don't tell him) in about a month. I look forward to getting all of David's clothes down to see them again and also to see what will work. They should be off season, but the weather here in Texas is so crazy you never know! One last fun thing I want to remember is all the cravings and things I find helpful during this stage of pregnancy. We might just find ourselves doing this again!!!

Cravings:
Sonic ice with lime
Fruit
Beef Ramen Noodles (so healthy, by the way David also loves this kind of "pasketti"!)
Egg McMuffins minus the egg (along with a small Dr. Pepper)

Can't live without:
My hubby! Trey is so patient with my moods, cravings, tiredness, etc.
The Snoogle Pillow by Boppy. WHY didn't I have this with David?!?
Friends that watch David during all my appointments
Sonia, the cleaning lady. I'm so blessed to have this right now as this pregnancy has been a little scary at times and I've been tired a lot. I know, I know... I'm spoiled!
Tums Smoothies
Our families who are so excited with each piece of news about how things are going
All things baseball (equipment, movies, books, etc.) They keep David entertained while I attempt to get things done at a snail's pace

An early birthday SURPRISE!

David's second birthday is less than a month away, so we decided instead of throwing him a party he won't really remember... we'd take him to a Rangers game instead! The day games are limited for the rest of the summer, so last Sunday we headed to the ballpark. Our sweet friends Eric, April, and Alli joined us for the hot afternoon. We all had a wonderful time!

David was so excited when we arrived at the park and he really listened to his daddy explaining the game. He didn't stay interested the entire game, but we think he really enjoyed it! When watching the game got a little tiresome, we shared ice cream and took many trips to the restroom (yes, for me!).

I'm pretty sure David is telling Alli that baseball players say "keep your eye on the ball", which is his new favorite saying!

I wish we had taken our family picture before sweating through 7 innings. Oh well, David was enjoying the game with his daddy so much I didn't want to disturb them!

Almost there...

We are really close to having a name for the baby, however I wanted to put it in writing that David's vote is Babe Ruth. I'm telling ya... the kid is a baseball nut!!!

A friend for breakfast...

David decided that he wanted to eat with someone other than me, his baseball bat, glove, and ball this morning. We were lucky enough to have Cocky (his small music playing mascot) join us! He sat Cocky down at his table in the other chair, then he proceeded to have seat himself. Somehow, Cocky fell to the floor in the process. So David said (with inflection much like I would use):

"Uh, oh Cocky. I so sorry! You o.k.?"

"Get up!"

It was too cute!

Wild Week

Keystone held a great children's program this week and Trey was the "wacky professor", Dr. Oppenheimerstein. I just had to share a picture of his costume! The week was very successful... we had over 130 kids in attendance (K5-6th grade) and 9 became Christ-followers for the first time! The kids LOVED the drama part of the night when Dr. Oppenheimerstein and his assisant would try to prove all these theories and perform tasks that only God can do. I sat in one night and was amazed at how closely they were listening! And, even though David was a little confused about his daddy being dressed up and talking with a strange voice, he certainly was not scared. He'll be old enough to attend before we know it!
