Saturday Fun

We love Saturday!!! All 3 of us were actually home most of the day today, which is rare for our family right now. It is so much fun to spend the morning playing with David in our bed and have some time together. David talks non-stop, giggles, and grins most of the day. What fun!!!

Since I finally got the rest of our things unpacked over break, David now has a place to keep all of his toys. He absolutely LOVES to take things out of this basket... now if I could just teach him to put them back!

He also likes the camera!

David talks all day! We wonder what he is saying and I'm sure he thinks the same about us.

This is a new expression David has started to make. It is his "I'm hiding something" face and I love it!

Breaking All the Rules...

Here are a few pictures of what I find in the mornings now when I get David up... he is on his stomach with his blanket in his face. He seems to really like this position and is usually snoring when I go to wake him at 5:45 a.m. As a first time mom I try to do what the "experts" say, but there is no way to keep David on his side/back anymore! He loves to cuddle with this little "blankey" too...

Snoozing away!!!

The camara doesn't even wake him!

I'm A Big Boy Now...

David has had an eventful past week... he got his first haircut, a "big boy" car seat, and HIS FIRST TOOTH! I know all these things don't matter much to him but it sure makes me realize how fast he is growing. He continues to be a very laid back baby. He is very friendly and will go to anyone that wants to hold him. He always has a smile for you and actually likes to flirt a lot (uh-oh). I noticed last week when I was out shopping with him that he plays a little game now. He will stare at someone (especially other kids) and wait until you notice him... then he turns on the charm! If you don't see him right away he will start calling out to you in his own little language. It is so funny to see him interact with others and I love that he usually brightens a stranger's day. I actually sing "You Are My Sunshine" to him every morning while I am getting him ready for the day and he just smiles and giggles, almost like he is saying "I know mama..."

David in his big boy car seat. Thanks Poppa Dock!

David getting his first "hair cut" by my stylist Singi. O.K. it was just that little front part that was hanging down to his nose and making him look like he had a bad comb over, but he does look older now!

David is showing off his new look! After he got his hair cut, he sat and played for an hour in his stroller while I got my hair cut as well. He really is a go with the flow baby.

You can't see the tooth yet, but here is David grinning like he has something to show you!

Spring Break Fun!

I had spring break this past week, so David and I got to spend some quality time together. I have more pictures to post but for some reason blogger is giving me a hard time right now. Anyway, we spent the beginning of the week unpacking the rest of the boxes (sadly enough we still had not totally unpacked). And then David's Aunt Courtney and Poppa Dock came to visit for a few days. We had fun shopping, eating (lots), and just relaxing. We are glad they came to hang out for a couple of days. The break also made me realize how much I want to stay home next year. Trey and I are in the process of figuring out how to make it work, at least with something part time. I love spending time with David during the day. He is at a fun age! I hope to get those pictures up soon...

"Son of a Preacher Man"

Trey had an opportunity to speak at Keystone this morning while our pastor was out of town. We were thankful for the opportunity and I feel God was glorified through Trey's message. He continued a series that Brandon began on temptation... it is amazing how God's word is so relevant to what we struggle with over 2000 years later! David and I were proud of Trey and know that God has given him a gift to use to glorify Him. If you would like to listen to Trey's message on the "ugly" side of temptation and sin just click the link above and it will take you to Keystone's webpage. It should be posted soon. Happy listening!!!

Feeling Better!

David is finally feeling better! Thank you for your prayers. He is sleeping like a champ again and wakes up talking and smiling. We are thankful it didn't last too long. I forget how much harder it is to function during the day with no sleep! The funny thing about David's sickness was that I found a new comfort for him. I was given a really nice bathrobe for Christmas and I was obviously wearing it most of the time during our late night (or early morning) rocking/comforting sessions. Anyway, the past 2 nights David has been fighting sleep a little until I put the robe on... I really think he has made an attachment to the material! Babies are so funny that way, always revealing new things about themselves. I love it! Anyway, here are some quick snapshots I took of David playing in the crib tonight before I put on the "magic robe" for bedtime...

David has several of these toy balls that he loves!

Yummy!!!

Giggle, giggle! I think he is starting to know he should smile for the camera.

We often call him "drool master" for obvious reasons.

We love you baby boy!

Diagnosis

Well, we have had 3 sleepless nights here at the Kelly Casa and I pray tonight is different! We went to the doctor yesterday and David has an ear infection. Poor guy, he can't sleep more than 2 hours without his little ears hurting and all parents know what that means... we walk and rock and walk and rock all night trying to bring some kind of comfort. Thankfully his sweet sitter, Lisa, has been keeping him dispite the illness since Trey is in the thick of it at work and I don't have any days to take off. She is an ANGEL! So, we are plugging on with life and hope our little baby boy feels better soon. I'll post more when I've slept more than 3 hours at a time...

Here we go again...

David started running a fever again yesterday (as high as 102.7). This is the 3rd time he has been sick since he was born. He had RSV, the croup, and now some mysterious infection. I say mysterious because I have not taken him to the doctor yet. I did call the nurses line with my pediatrician this morning and all she said was to give him Motrin every 6 hours and if it hadn't gone away they wanted to see him on Monday. I know it is probably no big deal, but it really stinks when a little one is sick. He is so much more "vocal" now that I can tell in his voice he doesn't feel well. Please pray for healing! Tomorrow is a work day and we neither one have days to stay home...

Life at 6 months...

David is learning so many things lately! Today, he waved bye-bye for the first time and it was very exciting for everyone watching. He is talking so much more and he loves to "visit" with other friends. He will sit in my lap and "talk" to anyone or anything for long periods of time while I am hanging out with friends or talking on the phone. In just 2 weeks I have noticed significant development and new "things" David can do. He has outgrown his infant car seat in length so we are going to Target this weekend to purchase new ones. David also loves his bath time more everyday. I started singing this really silly little chant when I was about to put him in the tub and now when I sing it he starts jumping and laughing. The joy only increases as I walk toward the bathtub and then, when I turn the water on, he can hardly control himself! It is priceless! We are thankful to have such a sweet little person in our lives. God is so good to us and we praise Him for knitting David in his image...

David meeting his new friend, Cade Everett Trotter. Cade was born February 14, 2006. Congratulations Toby and Cari... he is so sweet!

David really likes to "read". He reaches for his books when we are playing on the floor and he likes to help turn the pages.

He is reading a "No David" book. I know when he gets older he will love the silly pictures and words!

Here is David chewing on his rubber ducky in the tub. He loves bath time!

You guessed it, Trey just walked in the room. David is looking up at his really tall Daddy!
